<p>A defoliating composition comprising a compound having the structural formula
<Chemistry id="chema01" num="0001"><Image id="ia01" he="16" wi="75" file="IMGA0001.TIF" imgContent="chem" imgFormat="TIFF" inline="no" /></Chemistry>wherein R is F, Cl, 3-Br, 4-Br, I, CN or CX<Sub>3</Sub>, where X is F, Cl or Br; R' is hydrogen or C<Sub>1</Sub>-C<Sub>4</Sub> alkyl; and R<Sup>2</Sup> is C<Sub>1</Sub>-C<Sub>4</Sub> alkyl and a carrier for said compound is disclosed. A method of defoliating a plant using the above specified compound is also described.</p><p>Also described is a novel compound of the above formula where R is 2-fluoro, 2-chloro, 2-iodo, 2-cyano or 2-CX, and X is F, Cl or Br; R' is hydrogen or C<Sub>1</Sub>-C<Sub>4</Sub> alkyl and R<Sup>2</Sup> is C<Sub>1</Sub>-C<Sub>4</Sub> alkyl. A method of making the novel compound is also described.</p> |
