PURPOSE:To form a combustion chamber in a spherical shape decreasing ruggedness while arrange a cam shaft in the center so as to avoid interference with an ignition plug, by arranging three intake valves in one side of the combustion chamber and two exhaust valves in the other side while the ignition plug between the exhaust valves. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder provides three intake valves 4 in one side of a combustion chamber 3 and two exhaust valves 5 in the other side, radially arranging these valves so that axial lines of the five valves may cross with the center line of the cylinder. While an ignition plug 6 is arranged between the two exhaust valves 5 so as to be faced to the center of the combustion chamber 3. A cam shaft 7 is provided between the intake valves 4 and the exhaust valves 5, and two rocker shafts 9, 9' are arranged on the upper of the cam shaft, opening and closing each valve. In this way, a multi-valve engine of overhead cam shaft (SOHC) type can be constituted in a small size and in light weight by enabling the combustion chamber 3 to be constituted in a spherical shape and arranging the cam shaft 7 without causing the generation of its interference with the ignition plug 6. |
