<p>A method and apparatus for agitating a material consisting of heavier and lighter phases flowing along a pipe, comprising injecting at least one steam of fluid into the pipe, characterised in that the fluid is injected into the pipe in such a way that it breaks up the concentration of the heavier phase and mixes this with neighbouring portions of the lighter phase and also establishes a twin-cell rotation effect which ensures that the resulting mixture is thoroughly intermingled with any remaining unmixed lighter phase. The invention is particularly applicable to the oil industry.</p> |
