METHOD FOR ADJUSTING OUTFLOW IN BOTTOM NOZZLE OF LADLE

PURPOSE:To prevent the bridging that arises when a sliding nozzle is opened and to obtain a stable natural aperture by charging preliminarily a spherical body for adjusting outflow into an insert nozzle. CONSTITUTION:The aperture 3 at the bottom end of an insert nozzle 2 in the bottom of a ladle 1 is closed by a sliding nozzle 4. A long guide pipe 6 is inserted into an empty ladle 1 in this state and bottom end of the pipe 6 is joined to the funnel-shaped aperture 7 at the top end of the nozzle 2. A spherical body 8 for adjusting outflow is charged into the pipe 6 and is lowered down to the bottom end of the nozzle 2 and at the same time a packing material is packed into the nozzle 2 up to the aperture 7. A molten steel is then poured into the ladle 1. The nozzle 4 is thereafter opened to open the aperture 3 at the bottom end of the nozzle 2.
