PURPOSE:To attain to reduce the number of signal wires, by transmitting a signal serially by optical communication and bringing the connector part of an operation recorder and a memory cassette to a non-contact system. CONSTITUTION:When data to be recorded is generated from an operation recorder 1 to a memory cassette 2, flag data 41, an address 42 and transmission data 43 are serially supplied to a serial communication interface 10 by the microprocessor 13 mounted in the recorder 1 and encoded. These serial encoded data are transmitted by optical communication through LED61 and the phototransistor 62 of a connector 6 and stored in IC memory 23 through the serial communication interface SCI21 and the microprocessor MPU22 of the cassette 2. The transmission of the data of the cassette 2 to the recorder 1 is also similarly performed. By this mechanism, the connector part of the operation recorder and the memory cassette is brought to a non-contact system and the number of signal transmitting wires are reduced while the environmental resistance and operability of the memory cassette are enhanced.
