Refining hexafluoropropylen oxide into hexamfluropylene is carried out by extractive distillation in the presence of a solvent selected from chlorinated hydrocarbons having >=2C atoms (except ethane dichloride) and ethers having a branched alkyl whose C number is not 3, the solidifying point of the solvent being not >-20 degrees C., and boiling point is not 0 degrees C. The weight ratio of solvent/hexafluroopropylene epoxide is 1/1-10/1. The distillation is conducted at 1-10 atm. and at -30 degrees C. - +50 degrees C. of the top of the distn. tower, using as the solvent diisopropylether, 1,1,2-trichloroethane or trichloroethylene. The number of distillation stages can be minimised by 20-50%, thus a small size distn. tower may be sufficient.
|
