PURPOSE:To enhance color developability and stability of a developed color image, by a method wherein a fluoran derivative having an arylamino group at 2-position of a fluoran ring, an aralkyl group at 3-position and an amine residue at 6-position and the like are provided on a base. CONSTITUTION:A dye precursor comprising a fluoran derivative having an arylamino group at 2-position of the fluoran ring, an aralkyl group at 3-position and an amine residue at 6-position, a phenolic substance and, optionally, a thermoplastic substrate are pulverized and mixed into a liquid obtained by dissolving or dispersing a binder in a solvent or a dispersant, thereby preparing a coating liquid. The coating liquid is applied to a base such as a paper, a wood free paper and a plastic sheet, followed by drying to obtain a thermal recording material. One or more of the fluoran derivatives are used singly or in combination as the dye precursor. The binder may be a styrene-butadiene copolymer, an alkyd resin or the like. |
