<p>Arc-resistance compsn. contains an opt. unhardened or partly hardened polyarylene sulphide, (I), and, as fillers, 20-50 wt.%, w.r.t. total compsn., of clay and/or talc. The compsns. can be used in electrical component mfr. Filler addn. increases arc resistance, according to ASTMD-495-73, from 10- to >120 secs. A pref. compsn. contains (I) and, by wt. w.r.t. total compsn., 30-60% filler comprising clay and/or talc, 0-35% glass fibres and/or 0.40% CaCO3. Glass fibre addn. increases tensile strength. The further addn. of 0.5-5% of >=1 silane, e.g. an alkylsilane, alkoxysilane or polymer thereof, improves resistance to water and reduces or stabilises linear coefft. of expansion.</p> |
