PURPOSE:To reduce the total pressure loss in a return channel by spreading the flow- passage area of the U-turn part in a return channel towards the outlet side from the inlet side and compulsorily forming a stagnation region in the U-turn part and generating gentle deceleration of stream. CONSTITUTION:The width of a flow passage is increased over the range ranging from an inlet to an outlet in a U-turn part 9 of a return channel 10, and the width of the flow passage in the U-turn part 8 is continuously increased by increasing the width B5 of the flow passage at the outlet of the U-turn part 8, larger than the width B4 of the flow passage at the outlet of a diffuser 7, and frictional loss is reduced. Because, in this case, a large widening loss is generated when fluid passes through the U-turn part 8 the shaped of the inlet of a vane 9 at the outlet of the U-turn part is formed thick, having a roundness at the top. Therefore, a stagnation region is formed in the U-turn part 8 on the upstream, and gentle deceleration is generated, and the widening loss can be reduced. Therefore, the total pressure loss of the return channel 10 can be reduced, and the performance of a compressor can be improved markedly.
