PURPOSE:To produce a solid fuel which enables a good combustion state to be continuously kept, by blending fine wooden pieces and a binder with a raw material for solid fuel. CONSTITUTION:Fine wooden pieces such as wood waste or sawdust are blended with a raw material for solid fuel. Further, a binder is added thereto in such a proportion as to give a coke index of 2-3. By blending the wooden pieces, voids in the texture of the solid fuel itself can be enlarged so that air permeability and heat radiation are improved and an ash covering phenomenon is reduced, whereby the combustibility and the thermal efficiency of the solid fuel can be improved. By blending the binder in such a proportion as to give a coke index of 2-3, the solid fuel in the form of a blend with the wooden pieces in weakly caked during combustion so that the fuel can exhibit proper heat-resisting strength. Hence, the fuel can be prevented from being finely divided by breaking, and there is no possibility that ash is molten in the high-temperature zone of a combustion chamber to form clinker.
