PURPOSE:To divide a scale in detail, and to discriminate and know exactly a position on a long-sized body by providing a magnetic material layer on one surface of a length measuring long-sized body which is roll-wound to a core body and contained in a case. CONSTITUTION:A digital tape measure is constituted so that a magnetic material layer is provided on one surface of a length measuring long-sized body B which is roll-wound to a core body C and contained in a case A, the magnetic material layer is divided in the width direction and magnetized as plural trains extending in the longitudinal direction, also each train is magnetized as plural trains extending in the longitudinal direction from one reference line, and also each train is divided into a unit length corresponding to a scale along the longitudinal direction from one reference line, and magnetized in a different state. In this way, the scale can be divided in detail, and accordingly, a position on the long-sized body can be discriminated and known exactly from a combination of a magnetized state of each train.
