The method is intended for producing absorbent litter material for use in a cat's dirt box or as bedding litter for animals. Old newspapers, cardboard or other coarse-fibre material is saturated with water and subsequently pressed to form a coherent dry or largely dry mass. The pressing operation may be carried out to produce pieces or pellets, or this may be effected after the initial pressing operation. The material may be further dried with hot air after pressing.
