The heating stove (1) for burning solid fuel comprises a grate (5) having a fixed (6) and a movable (7) portion to permit closing the passage for primary combustion air via the grate openings. It also has at least one opening (10) for supply of secondary air (11). A further passage (12) for secondary air (13) is opened by the movable grate portion when this is moved to close the primary air supply. The grate may consist of an upper plate with openings slidable on a fixed plate. When the respective grate openings are closed, one opening in the fixed plate is connected to the passage (12).
