PURPOSE:To correct the degradation of a waveform corresponding to a large amplitude part without having a bad influences upon a small amplitude part which is not clipped, by extracting a high band component of an input video signal and subtracting a signal, whose amplitude is limited with a prescribed limiting level, from the high band component and adding the input video signal to the subtraction result. CONSTITUTION:The high band component of the input video signal is extracted by a high pass filter 25, and the extracted high band component has the amplitude limited by the prescribed limiting level in a limiter 26, and the signal subjected to amplitude limiting is subtracted from the extracted high band component by a subtractor 27, and the signal resulting form this subtraction and the input video signal are added by an adder 28. Thus, the waveform degradation of a part which has a large amplitude by high band amplification and has the waveform degraded by clipping at the recording time is corrected without having a bad influence upon the small amplitude part to take out a signal. |
