Electric capacitor comprises first and second opposite, planar capacitor ends, and first and second electrodes positioned between the planes of the capacitor ends. Each of the end electrodes includes at least a single layer of conductive material, the layers being parallel to each other and each being bounded by first and second opposite edges. The first-electrode layer is normal to the plane of the first capacitor end and has its first edge disposed in the first end plane, the first edge of the second-electrode layer being recessed a first predetermined distance from the first end plane. A layer of dielectric material is positionedbetween the electrode layers and parallel thereto including first and second opposite borders parallel to the first and second end planes respectively. A fold in the dielectric material includes the first border, the fold being positioned within the predetermined recess distance of the first ge of the second-electrode layer from the first end plane and first and second electrical connecting means are provided to connect to the first and second electrodes respectively, at least the first connecting means comprising a conductive coating applied to the first capacitor end to make electrical contact with the first edge of said first-electrode layer. - The predetermined recess distance has a selected magnitude, and the fold is adapted to shiled the second electrode from stray particles attributable to the application of the conductive coating to the first capacitor end.
