NEW MATERIAL:The octadecapeptide of formula wherein the tyrosine may be labeled with radioactive iodine. USE:Reagent for determination of the insulin-like growth factor-I(IGF-I) for the diagnosis of gigantism, acromegaly, hypopituitarism, pituitary dwarfism, etc. PREPARATION:The compound can be synthesized e.g. by the chemical synthesis or enzymatic synthesis used in the field of peptide synthesis. For example, the compound of formula I can be produced by the chemical synthesis by reacting successively in the order of the peptide sequence in solid phase, or by selecting fragments convenient for the synthesis, synthesizing the fragment by liquid-phase process, solid-phase process or peptide synthetase process, and condensing the fragments with each other. The compound is bonded to a carrier protein, immunized to an animal to produce an antibody, and combined with a compound labeled with radioactive iodine, and the IGF-I in the serum is determined by radioimmunoassay.
