PURPOSE:To decrease the stains owing to the sensitizing dyes remaining after a developing process and the fluctuation in the sensitivity, photographic fog, etc. during and after production and to improve sensitivity by using the specific sensitizing dyes in combination. CONSTITUTION:The compd. expressed by the formula I and the compd. expressed by the formula II or the formula III are combinedly incorporated into a titled emulsion. The deterioration in photographic characteristic that arises during production and storage can be effectively prevented and the silver halide emulsion which is free from staining after developing process and has high sensitivity can be formed by adding combinedly the sensitizing dye expressed by the formula I and the sensitizing dye expressed by the formula II or III into the silver halide emulsion in the above-mentioned way. In the formulas, R1, R2 are an alkyl group or a gamma- sulfopropyl group, etc. of <=6 carbon atoms, R3 is methyl group, an ethyl group, a propyl group, etc., R6 is an ethyl group, a propyl group, etc., W1, W3 are an alkoxy group of <=4 carbon atoms, a chlorine atom, a hydrogen atom, etc., W2, W4 are a hydrogen atom, etc., W0 is a hydrogen atom or an atom forming a benzene ring in combination with W1, W5 is a hydrogen atom, a chlorine atom, an alkoxy group of <=4 carbon atoms, a phenyl group, etc., W6 is a hydrogen atom, etc., W9 is a hydrogen atom or a group to form a benzene ring in combination with W1, W7 is a chlorine atom, a fluorine atom, a cyano atom, a trifluoromethyl group, an ethoxycarbonyl group, a methoxy carbonyl group, W8 is a hydrogen atom, a chlorine atom, etc. |
