PURPOSE:To detect the optical defect in the inside of a raw rock crystal accurately, by using a matching liquid, wherein two kinds of phenyl silicone oils having different specified refractive indexes are mixed. CONSTITUTION:Two kinds of phenyl silicone oils are used. One of them has the refractive index, which is lower than the refractive index 1.5443 of an original crystal for a normal light beam; and the refractive index of the other is higher than the refractive index 1.5534 of the original crystal for abnormal light beam. By using the two oils, a matching liquid is prepared. An original rock crystal and the matching liquid are placed in an oil tank formed by a glass container. The light of tungsten lamp is transmitted from the upper part of the glass container. The light is detected by an image sensor tube and a TV receiver. Thus a small striae in the original rock crystal is detected, and the optical defect in the inside can be accurately detected. |
