PURPOSE:To perform accurate tracking control over a wide range by carrying out the dynamic tracking control on the basis of playback output signals of a couple of dedicated reproducing magnetic heads which are set at the same azimuth angle with a couple of recording and reproducing magnetic heads. CONSTITUTION:Dedicated reproducing magnetic heads 23 and 25 which are set at the same azimuth angle with recording and reproducing magnetic heads 22 and 24 are arranged between the heads 22 and 24 respectively. Further, the heads 22 and 24 are mounted on a rotary drum 21 through head actuators 26, 27. A tracking error signal is detected on the basis of the envelope variations of the playback output signals of the heads 23 and 25 and the head actuators 26 and 27 are driven on the basis of them to displace the heads 22 and 24 in the axial direction of the drum 21, performing the dynamic tracking control. Therefore, the accurate tracking control is carried out over the wide range. |
