Manufacture of plate glass and especially the enclosures where the glass is heat-treated. To avoid heat losses through the openings existing in these enclosures, the said openings are provided, according to the invention, with heat screens consisting of fibres made of a flexible material which does not mark the glass and which forms a continuous barrier. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the fibres are combined into a brush with the aid of a mounting. <IMAGE>
