摘要 PURPOSE:To prohibit implantation of electric charge from a base body so that the prescribed quantity of electrification is maintained in the stage of forming an electrostatic latent image and to perform quickly charge transfer so that the residual charge is effectively removed in the stage of removing the residual charge by providing an under layer consisting of a water soluble high polymer on a conductive base body and providing a charge generating layer and a charge transfer layer on said under layer. CONSTITUTION:A thin metallic film of, for example, Al, etc. deposited by evaporation is provided as a transparent or semitransparent conductive base body 2 on a transparent base body consisting of a biaxial by stretched polyethylene terephthalate film or the like and a water soluble under layer 3, a charge generating layer 4 and a charge transfer layer 5 are provided thereon. A corona charger 6 is disposed on the charge transfer 5 side of a photosensitive body 1 and the surface thereof is electrified to the charge having a specified polarity by DC corona discharge. An image is exposed to the body 1 via an optical system 7 from the transparent base body 10 side. The layer 4 is exposed through the body 10, the layer 2 and the layer 3 in the bright part L and the charge is generated in the stage of said exposure. The neutralization of the surface charge is accomplished by migration through the layer 5 up to the surface, by which the electrostatic latent image consisting of the bright part L where the charge is annihilated and the dark part D where the charge remains is thus formed.
