PURPOSE:To obtain a highly accurate similarity calculating output in spite of an uneven seal impression by reading out a weighting mask corresponding to a seal impression formed under uneven pressure and executing weighting correction. CONSTITUTION:A checking pattern image 13 is inputted to a frame thickness detecting circuit 31 and the thickness of the seal impression is found out in respective upper, lower, right and left points. The outputs W1-W4 of the circuit 31 are inputted to comparators 32, 33 and the W1 is compared with the W3 and the W2 is compared with the W4. Output signals 41-46 from the comparators 32, 33 are inputted to an address control circuit 34 and converted into addresses corresponding to a memory constitution of a weighting mask memory 35 storing weighting masks. Address information 47, an output from the circuit 34, is sent to a memory 35 and a weighting mask corresponding to the information 47 is read out and inputted to an integrating circuit 36 together with the image 13. The circuit 13 integrates the image 13 with the mask 48 and the integrated result is outputted as a weighting correction pattern image 49.
