The subject of the present invention is an ignition and starter switch with front contacts for motor vehicles, comprising an insulating body 10 carrying a series of pairs of fixed contacts 22, 24, a series of pairs of moving contacts 18, 20 carried by respective plates 16 axially displaceable in the body 10 and able to co-operate with the pairs of fixed contacts 22, 24, a rotating member 42 having a front cam 40 rotated opposite the said body 10, and a series of stops 26 mounted axially slideably in the body 10 and interposed between the front cam 40 and the said plate 16 in order normally to keep the moving contacts 18, 20 away from the corresponding fixed contacts 22, 24 while opposing the action of elastic means 34 tending to press the plates 16 in the direction of the fixed contacts 22, 24.
