Root cutting device for separating off growths of roots into large free-fall pipes

In large free-fall pipes laid in the ground, in whose direct vicinity trees and bushes are growing, growths of roots into the pipe connecting points occur. These growths which lead to operational disturbances can be mechanically eliminated in an economical fashion with the invention above. On a movable or sliding frame a carrying arm which can be swivelled up and down and has a deflector bar is attached, the said bar being acted upon from below with corresponding force by means of spring pressure in such a way that the spacing and guide roller which is located in the region of the end side of the carrying arm is pressed against the apex of the pipe. A swivel device which is attached below the guide roller moves a holder which is configured for a suitable cutting device, backwards and forwards transversely with respect to the longitudinal axis of the pipe in an arc of 180 DEG . The cutting device which is clamped at a corresponding distance from the wall of the pipe thus cuts all the growths protruding out of the wall of the pipe in the region of the oscillatory movement.
