[Also in Division F2] In a mechanism comprising a lead screw 13 having a helical thread engaging a helical thread 14 in a body 10, which may be the slide of a machine tool, liquid under pressure is supplied to a plurality of outlets 17 formed at circumferentially spaced points along the helical thread 14. Liquid under pressure is supplied from a manifold 20 through pipes 19 and passages 18, the manifold 20 incorporating individual capillary tubes 23 and pressure gauges 25. Drain openings 31, 32 extend from the bases and crests of the threads. In a modication, square threads 33, 35 have outlets 37 on radial surfaces and chamfered edges 33, 35 to provide annular drain passages from which the liquid flows to drains 39, 40. |
