Herbicidal compositions comprising, as active ingredient, a diphenyl ether derivative of formula wherein R1 represents a hydrogen or halogen atom or an alkyl or haloalkyl group; R2 and R3 each independently represents a hydrogen or halogen atom or an alkyl, haloalkyl, nitro or cyano group; and the substituents A and B have the meanings as defined in the text; the use of such diphenyl ethers as herbicides; certain novel diphenyl ethers within formula I and their preparation.
