The stop fingers (8) at the base of the container hatch (5) are fitted on a shaft (9), to which is also connected an operating arm (12) with at least one weight (16). When the container is in the use position with its base horizontal and walls vertical, the arm and weight are pivoted backwards from the vertical plane, maintaining the fingers in a locking position. Where the container is tilted past a critical point, the shaft (9) rotates, releasing the stop fingers and allowing the hatch to be opened. The weight is movable backwards and forwards relatively to the operating arm (12), i.e. from an initial condition in which it follows the arm and container in their tipping motion to a released state in which it accelerates rapidly and communicates a thrust effect to the arm. This causes the stop fingers distinctly to be released from their hatch locking position. |
