The valve seat is acted upon by a movable piston (16) with ridges (42) which can be pressed into a seal ring (15). The latter is held inside a support ring (70) to which it is bonded. The valve plug (16) is held in place by coil spring (17). The support ring is at least as thick as the sealing ridge on the valve plug. The sealing ring can be supported between inner and outer support rings. In the valve open position a more direct flow is obtained. The valve plug is spring loaded into the closing position and has a release plunger (37) to vent it.
