The invention relates to a device for the conversion of a reciprocal movement into a rotational movement, which has a cylinder (1) closed at both ends by means of covers (2, 3), in which cylinder a piston (5) is displaceably arranged, which is coupled by way of an external thread (13) to an internal thread (12) of the cylinder (1) and accommodates a drive shaft (6) directed outwards, which drive shaft is connected by way of an external thread (16) to an internal thread (15) of the piston (5). In order to improve a device of this type so as firstly to simplify its assembly and secondly to provide a safeguard against overload, it is proposed according to the invention that the cylinder (1) be equipped on its outer peripheral surface with a tapered section (8), in which a tapered sleeve (10) correspondingly formed on its outer peripheral surface is arranged, which is provided with an internal thread (12) assigned to the external thread (13) of the piston (5). <IMAGE>
