PURPOSE:To improve slag removability and welding operability by incorporating a specific amt. of CaO and MgO among slag forming components into a flux thereby decreasing the amt. of oxygen and the amt. of diffusible hydrogen in a weld metal. CONSTITUTION:CaO and MgO among slag forming components are incorporated into a slag to satisfy the conditions CaO>=18.5, MgO>=18.5%, CaO%+MgO%= 41-60%, CaO%/MgO%=0.70-1.25, (CaO%+MgO%)/(SiO2%+0.5Al2O3%)= 1.50-2.50 including the amt. corresponding to the values in terms of oxide of CaCO3 and MgCO3 occupying in the gas genrating components. The flux contains also 3-10% metallic fluoride, 3.5-12% metallic carbonate as the gas forming component in terms of CO2, <=15% metallic powder and the balance trace components and impurities. |
