PURPOSE:To improve a corrosion resistance, to prevent a clogging and a tape squeaking after an environmental test, and also to reduce a drop-out by hardening a coated magnetic layer using as a binding material a polymer which can be polymerized by irradiating an electron beam, by irradiating the electron beam in a vacuum. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic paint consisting of a magnetic powder 32, an organic solvent, etc. is prepared and coated in advance to a supporting body 1 by using as a binding material 31 a polymer which can be polymerized by irradiating an electron beam, by which a coated magnetic layer 3 is formed. The supporting body 1 on which the coated magnetic layer 3 is placed is welded by pressure by rolls 4, 5. At the same time, the rolls 4, 5 are made to contact by pressing to rubber packings 7, 8 embedded in a part of the wall surface for constituting a vacuum tank 6, and constituted so that a vacuum sealing is executed. The coated magnetic layer 3 smoothed by making the roll contact by pressure is irradiated by an electron beam 9. The supporting body having the coated magnetic layer whose polymerization has been completed by receiving an irradiation of the electron beam moves in the direction as indicated with an arrow A, is fetched into the atmosphere and wound. The coated magnetic layer is hardened in a vacuum, therefore, when it has been hardened in the atmosphere, a side effect by a large quantity of ozone generated in the atmosphere by an action by the electron beam is eliminated.
