PURPOSE:To increase the depth of a gap to extend the life of a head by insulating a layer to be a magnetic gap, a coil conductor, and an upper magnetic layer common to all elements successively with prescribed shapes on a rectangular pattern to be a lower magnetic layer and cutting away a prescribed part of the rear face of a magnetic substrate thereafter. CONSTITUTION:Grooves 210 are provided on the front face of a magnetic substrate 11 to form finally rectangular patterns 211 to be lower magnetic layers. Nonmagnetic material consisting of a low-melting point glass is filled in grooves 210, and the surface is made flat by lapping to form a nonmagnetic packed layer 31. A nonmagnetic insulating layer 4 which prescribes the magnetic gap, a coil conductor layer 5, an insulator 6, and an upper magnetic layer 7 are laminated successively with prescribed shapes on rectangular patterns 211 on the magnetic substrate 11 whose surface rectangular patterns 211 to be lower magnetic layers 21 are formed on. Finally, the part surrounded with a broken line of the magnetic substrate 11 is cut away by machining to separate lower magnetic layers 21 from the magnetic substrate 11. |
