Textiles consisting wholly or largely of cellulose and/or regenerated cellulose fibres are treated with aqueous dyes containing alkylene urea methylol compounds. The alkylene groups may contain hydroxyl groups and the methylol groups may be esterified. Acid catalysts are also present. The mixture is allowed to stand for a few hours at ordinary or slightly higher temperature, then washed and heated again to dry it. The catalyst mixture consists of phosphoric acid and ammonium salts of strong acids. This mixture is added and after removal of the excess dye liquid, about 4-20% moisture in natural cellulose fibres and about 6-25% in regenerated cellulose fibres, and the pre-dried textile is left in this state. The catalyst consists of a mixture of 10-60% phosphoric acid and 90-40% ammonium salt.
