PURPOSE:To reduce the thermal corrosion of the tank block of a glass smelting furnace tank, by forming a shelf at the top of the tank block to accept the molten glass in the form of a thin layer and solidify the glass or increase the viscosity of the glass layer, and covering the upper part of the shelf with a breast. CONSTITUTION:The barrier 18 is formed at the top of the exterior part of the tank block 12 forming the side wall of a glass smelting furnace tank. The top surface of the tank block 12 inside of the barrier 18 is used as a shelf 19 to accept the molten glass in the form of a thin layer. The upper part of the shelf 19 is covered with the breast 15 to shield the shelf 19 from the radiation heat radiated from the inner wall of the furnace. The molten glass 21 stored in the smelting furnace tank enters into the shelf part 19 in the form of a thin layer, and is cooled and solidified or made viscous to lose the fluidity because the molten glass is shielded from the heat radiation from the inner wall of the hot furnace. Owing to the self-lining effect of the molten glass 21, the corrosion of the tank block 12 can be suppressed. |
