METHOD FOR COOLING BELT IN BELT TYPE CONTINUOUS CASTING MACHINE

PURPOSE:To grow a uniform and satisfactory shell to the poured descending molten metal by dividing the supporting metallic flasks in the part near the pouring port of metallic belts for continuous casting where curvature changes to plural cooling zones and changing the cooling rate of the belts. CONSTITUTION:Metallic belts 1 for continuous casting narrow the gap down to a prescribed width while changing the curvature from a well part 6 for pouring thereby growing successively shells 8. Belt supporting metallic flasks 2 which cool the belts 1 by applying curvature thereto are divided to plural cooling zones and are cooled by water cooling pipes 9. The cooling water flow at the point O where the curvature of the belts 1 begin to change is maximized and the cooling water flow above and below the same is made successively smaller. The growth of the shells is accomplished by adequately changed cooling at the steady speed at which no trouble is generated. The satisfactory product is thus obtd.
