A brake for a vehicle comprises a rotatable braking member, a friction member, a fluid pressure operated actuator(3), an automatic adjuster(4) for maintaining predetermined brake clearances and a valve assembly (47) for controlling supply of the pressure fluid to operate the adjuster. The actuator comprised a housing(11) & relatively movable parts located in the housing. The adjuster is operated by the supply of pressure fluid which is controlled by the valve assembly. The valve assembly is operable to supply the pressure fluid to operate the adjuster when relative movement between the parts of the actuator exceeds a predetermined value. |
