Steel products in the form of long stainless-steel rods leave the production lines, adjustment lines and testing lines of the manufacturer's works with very different remanent induction values. In order to deliver these products as free of remanence as possible and to ensure their further processing by electric welding, machining or non-cutting forming by means of ferromagnetic tools in partially-automated or fully-automated machine tools and production lines without disturbance and diminutions of quality, a method and an arrangement for the regulated demagnetisation of these workpieces by means of digital regulation of DC-supplied demagnetisation coils are proposed, which [lacuna] can be arranged after the final operation on the workpiece, places no condition on the transportation speed of the workpiece and has no adverse effect on the continuous production process.
