The ascending pipe is used for the foam-free drawing off of liquids which contain gas, preferably carbon dioxide, or do not contain gas, from containers held under gas pressure. It is characterised according to the invention in that it is provided with an inlet chamber, a reducing chamber which is connected in the direction of flow and a reducing pin which can be displaced in both chambers. A calming chamber with an increased cross-section is advantageously constructed downstream of the reducing chamber in the direction of ascent. The ascending pipe makes it possible to draw off liquids which do not contain gas and liquids which contain gas, especially drinks containing carbon dioxide, from containers regardless of the pressure of gas in the container, without foaming of the liquid. The ascending pipe can be easily transferred from one container to another container in conjunction with a container sealing fitting.
