An outlet valve for electrically operated fuel pumps is disclosed which has a valve element having a conical nose section which merges into a spherical region for resting on a valve seating. Axially extending ribs on the valve element form shoulders for a valve spring constructed as a helical spring and, in addition, ensure that the fuel flow can flow inside the spring so that the flow is not impaired by the degree of compression of the valve spring. <IMAGE>
