In the case of the apparatus for fastening grinding wheels (10) on the grinding spindle (1'), said grinding spindle exhibits, on its spindle head (1), a receiving cone designed as a short cone and having an adjoining planar surface (3), and, in a central bore, exhibits a collet chuck (5) which can be actuated by a tie rod (4). The grinding wheel (10) is received in a receiving flange (9) comprising a fixed and a loose flange part (9a, 9b respectively). The fixed flange part (9a) exhibits a conical receiving bore (12), which fits on the receiving cone (2), and a central clamping bolt (14), the clamping head (14b) of which cooperates with the collet chuck (5). The fixed flange part (9a) exhibits a bearing surface (15) bearing against the planar surface (3). The spindle head (1) is provided with a cylinderical centring bore (8) which is concentric with the receiving cone (2). Adjoining its clamping head (14b), the clamping bolt (14) exhibits a guiding cone (14c) which merges into a centring cylinder (14d) which fits with a certain amount of clearance into the centring bore (8). On the fixed flange part (9a), a concentric annular groove (17) is provided for the engagement of grippers of a grinding-wheel changer. The centring cylinder (14d) extends in the direction of the clamping head (14b) to such an extent that it engages in the centring bore (8), during changing of the grinding wheel, before the conical receiving bore (12) has reached the receiving cone (2). <IMAGE>
