发明名称 JOINING METHOD OF SUPERCONDUCTOR
摘要 PURPOSE:To join two superconductors without deteriorating the superconductive characteristics in a joint part by irradiating an ion beam to the butt surfaces of both superconductors in a high vacuum then sticking a brazing filler metal consisting of an alloy having the specific compsn. having the m.p. lower than the m.p. of the superconductors on both butt surfaces and butting said surfaces while heating the superconductors in a high vacuum. CONSTITUTION:Superconductive composite bodies consisting of, for example, Nb- Ti alloy or Nb3Sn, etc. having poor wettability with a brazing filler metal are butted and are soldered in the following way: An ion beam is irradiated to both butt surfaces to etch and clean said surfaces and thereafter a brazing filler metal is stuck on the clean surfaces. The stuck parts are heated in a high vacuum to form the reaction layer between the brazing filler metal and the superconductors then both butt surfaces are pressurized to discharge the molten solder and only the reaction layer is allowed to remain thereby joining the surfaces. The brazing filler metal having the m.p. lower than the m.p. of the superconductors, for example, Pb-Sn alloy or Pb-Si alloy as the above-described brazing filler metal is stuck on both cleaned butt surfaces by sputtering.
