A direct reading neutron or other high LET radiation detector/dosimeter is provided comprising droplets of a superheated detector liquid dispersed in a transparent or translucent elastic solid which traps the products of vapourisation of the droplets caused by neutron or other high LET radiation impact with consequential detectable damage to the solid at the site of each vapourised droplet.
