PURPOSE:To obtain a polymer in which different kinds of fillers are uniformly dispersed, by polymerizing ethylene in the presence of a filler pretreated with a specified highly active catalyst component and an untreated filler having at least the same affinity for polyethylene. CONSTITUTION:A hydrocarbon solvent-soluble highly active catalyst component containing Ti and/or Zr (e.g., cyclopentadienyltitanium compound) is contacted with a filler selected from the group consisting of metal (oxides), metal carbonates, and carbonaceous substances (e.g., copper powder). Ethylene is polymerized or copolymerized with other alpha-olefins in the presence of a catalyst prepared by combining the above contact product with an organoaluminum compound and a filler having an affinity for polyethylene at least the same as that of the above-mentioned filler, such as a metal (oxide), a metal carbonate, or a carbonaceous substance (e.g., tri-iron tetroxide) to obtain the purpose polyethylene composition. |
