PURPOSE:To measure the surface potential of a photosensitive body at a low cost and with high accuracy by a small occupied space, by measuring the surface potential of the photosensitive body by a current flowing to a member for detecting the potential of a wire in a corotron. CONSTITUTION:A pontential detecting device of an electrifier is constituted of a corona wire 1 for executing corona discharge by receiving a supply of a DC high voltage, a shield 2 for constituting a corotron together with the wire 1 and protecting the wier 1, a corona wire power source 3, a photosensitive body 4 of a drum or a belt, a potetial detecting wire 5 installed between the photosensitive body 4 and the corona wire 1, a wire power source 6 for applying a voltage value near the surface potential of the photosensitive body 4 to the wire 5, and a current measuring circuit 7 for measuring a current flowing to the wire 5 from the power source 6. An ion in the vicinity of the wire 5 flows in large quantities to the photosensitive body in case when the potential of the photosensitive body 4 is low, and in case when it is high, the ion flows in large quantities to the wire 5. |
