PURPOSE:To improve the combustion efficiency of heavy fuel oil A or gas oil contg. fuel oil additives and to prevent harmful gas from being emitted during combustion, by adding water to the oil contg. fuel oil additives. CONSTITUTION:2-10vol% water is added to heavy fuel oil A or gas oil contg. fuel oil additives. The resulting fuel oil has a very good combustion effect even under 100% load or 50% load when about 50vol% water is incorporated. The improvement in the combustion efficiency is thought to be due to the fact that water added to the fuel oil act as an effective catalyst during combustion. Nitrogen in the air is oxidized during combustion and harmful nitrogen oxides NOx are emitted. However, when the fuel oil of the present invention is used, the quantity of NOx can be reduced. This is also considered to be due to the fact that water contained in the fuel oil has an effect of inhibiting the oxidation reaction of nitrogen.
