PURPOSE:To adjust easily and surely the amt. of the rust preventive oil to be coated at a low equipment cost by supplying the rust preventive oil to a metallic strip, coating the oil thereto with squeezing rolls then sucking the oil and adjusting the suction force thereby requlating the thickness of the oil film. CONSTITUTION:A rust preventive oil 3 is sprayed to the upper and rear faces of a moving metallic strip 1 from oil supply headers 2, 2' provided in the transverse direction thereof so as to cross the strip. The oil 3 is supplied to the headers 2, 2' at the oil flow regulated by a flow rate regulating valve 5. The supplied oil 3 is then squeezed by squeezing rolls 6, 6' and is uniformly spread in the transverse direction of the strip 1. The oil is sucked by suction means 9 fitted to headers 7, 7' installed in front of the rolls 6, 6' across the top and bottom thereof. The oil 3 is separated from the other objects such as air, etc. by an oil separator 4 and only the oil 3 is fed 17 into a tank 3. On the other hand, the detection signal from an oil film thickness gage 18 installed so as to contact the oil surface on the down stream of the line behind the headers 7, 7' is fed to a pressure regulating valve 15 to control the valve 15, by which the suction force is adjusted and the oil film thickness is regulated.
