PURPOSE:To obtain a shock resistant, highly rigid robot for forging by engaging a linear guide bearing provided with an arm fitting stand to linear guide rails of a frame supported by a sliding stand movable in vertical direction. CONSTITUTION:A pair of linear guide rails 13 are provided on inner face of a frame 14 of box-shaped sectional form supported by a sliding stand 7 movable in vertical direction by action of a Y-axis motor 1 and a Y-axis ball screw 2 guided by a Y-axis rod erected on a pedestal 8. An arm fitting stand 15 is attached to a linear guide bearing engaged to the guide rails. This is made movable in horizontal direction through a Z-axis motor 4 and a Z-axis ball screw 5 to constitute a robot for forging. A gripper 10 that holds a billet for forging is mounted to a above-mentioned arm fitting stand 15 through an articulated arm 9, and Z-axis part is mainly composed of the frame 14, linear guide bearing 12 and linear guide rails 13 to obtain structure resistant to shock of forging.
