[Class 83 (iii).] In apparatus for removing the india-rubber from the outer covers of pneumatic tyres, a shaft 5, Fig. 2, carries a work-holder 6 consisting of an annular member having radial ribs 6a, Fig. 4, between which slide radial arms 7 secured to further arms 7a, the latter being formed with slots at their inner ends engaging wedges 8 mounted on a hub 8b, Fig. 2, sliding on the shaft 5. The wedges are formed with grooves engaging pins in the slots in the arms 7a. The hub 8b is caused to slide by means of a nut 10 rotated by hand-levers 10a and working on a threaded part of the shaft 5. By this means the wedges 8 are caused to project or retract the arms 7, 7a, Fig. 4. The arms 7 carry at their outer ends hollow members 9 shaped externally to engage the inner surface of the tyre-cover.</p> |
