PURPOSE:To prevent any corrosion of a base plate and facilitate manufacture of a plate for an alkaline storage battery by causing sodium nitrite or ferrous nitrate to be held by a porous nickel base plate before the base plate is immersed in either a molten salt or high concentration solution of nickel nitrate or cadmium nitrate. CONSTITUTION:After a porous nickel base plate is immersed in an aqueous solution of sodium nitrite or ferrous nitrate, the base plate is dried. The thus treated base plate is then immersed in either a molten salt or high concentration solution of nickel nitrate or cadmium nitrate, thereby impregnating the base plate with these compounds. After that, the base plate is immersed in a caustic soda solution thereby converting the compounds into active materials. |
