PURPOSE:To prevent local deformation of a work due to buckling in forming a metal to be worked using electromagnetic force by an electromagnetic forming device by vacuumizing the air between a forming die and the work. CONSTITUTION:The work 3 made of metal is put in the forming die 4 and a solenoid coil 2 is placed in it. After vacuumizing the air in the space G between the forming die 4 and work 3 by a pressure reducing device 5, large current is applied to the solenoid coil 2 momentarily from a current source 1. A magnetic field is generated between the solenoid coil 2 and work 3, and at the same time, current is induced in the work 3. Repulsion F is generated by interaction of the magnetic field and induced current, and the work 3 is thrusted against the forming die 4 and formed along the forming die 4. In this case, a buckling phenomenon due to air in the space between the two does not occur, and a formed product conforming to the forming die is obtained.
